M'sian Malay Woman Expresses Disappointment Not Going Viral - and we are here to change that Late last month, a Japanese man, Nobutaka Sada, had gone viral for climbing Mount Kinabalu in a business suit and leather business shoes to promote the brand’s quality. While the feat seemed nearly impossible but he did it, right?
Well, it turns out that there’s a Malaysian who took it just as far if not further, way before Sada could.
The Travel Jimat Twitter page recently shared the story of Shikin, who felt hurt after finding out that Sada had gone viral over his stunt, when she had worn Baju Kebayas while getting to base camps at Annapurna and Everest, Nepal.

“If they’re from Japan, you’re amazed. Rallying in praising Nobutaka Sada for wearing a suit at the peak of Mount Kinabalu. How about this? A Malay (and a female at that) did it before him. In 2017, I had already done it la, 6 years ago.”
“Not Kinabalu, okay? But, Annapurna Basecamp (ABC) in Nepal, much higher and soo cold, it gives your shivers. The only difference is that this Japanese tailor did not to market and promote his suit on the mountain. I wore my own Kebayas. Don’t even say I want to promote traditional clothes, I didn’t even promote myself until now,” she shared.
She went on to explain how she had worn Kebayas during her mountaineering adventures, twice!

“Not once, but twice. Another one at Khumjung Village, above the Namchee Bazaar on the way to the Everest Basecamp. Soo, I remain a Malay woman even though I have Korean blood. I am saddened,” she added.
Comparisons aside, Shikin definitely looks absolutely amazing in her Kebayas as she ventures to heights not many Malaysians could.
Kudos, for making Malaysia proud, Shikin!
