THE Penang Amateur Athletic Association, in collaboration with the Penang State Sports Council, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the office of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, will be organising the Tanjung 10km Run, on Sept 22 (Sunday).
This year’s run, held in conjunction with the birthday celebrations of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, will start at 7am from Jalan Sepoy Lines (Polo Ground) and will be officially flagged off by Tun Ahmad Fuzi.

According to PAAA secretary V. Govindasamy, the run event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and foster unity among the various races.
“We are starting at Jalan Sepoy Lines, and for the first time, finishing at Seri Mutiara (the official residence of His Excellency Governor of Penang). We will also be introducing timing chips for the event this year.
“We expect 1,000 participants in this year’s race,” Govindasamy said.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Seri Mutiara at 9.30am, with Tun Ahmad Fuzi gracing the event.
All participants will be entitled to a T-shirt, a finisher medal, a lucky draw coupon, brunch during prize giving, an e-certificate, and more.
Trophies will be awarded in seven categories: Men’s Junior, Men’s Senior, Men’s Junior Veteran, Men’s Senior Veteran, Women’s Junior, Women’s Senior and Women’s Veteran. The top male and female participants will receive a special prize.
In addition, a car and a motorcycle will be up for grabs as grand prizes in the lucky draw.
