George Town, Penang – 2 February 2023 – Hard Rock Hotel Penang's most anticipated Rock to Rock Run (RTRR) is back for the 9th time and will take place on 18 June 2023, 6.00 am - 11.00 am, Sunday.
Rock to Rock Run was established in 2010 to raise awareness and funds to support the local community and improve lives. Over the years, it has benefited 8 non-profit organisations including Rumah Seri Cahaya (2010 and 2015), Crystal Family Home and Association of Rehab of the Disabled (2011), Asia Community Service Stepping Stone Centre (2012), SJK(C) Permatang Tinggi (2013), SJK(C) Yok Eng (2014), Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Ferringhi (2017) and the Malaysia Civil Defence Department (2019) with the Ambulance for Life project.
Working with Pertubuhan Kebajikan Tabung Makanan Mutiara (Mutiara Food Bank) this year, Hard Rock Hotel Penang pledges to donate RM50,000 in kind through RTRR 2023 to aid the provision of food supplies to 280 families in need. Mutiara Food Bank is a non-profit organisation established by the Penang State Government in May 2017. Its objective is to collect surplus food from supply chains and distribute them to the needy, reducing hunger and waste at the same time. With its daily operations, Mutiara Food Bank provides food supplies to communities in need both in Penang and other states through service distribution centres such as MPKK, mosques, charity homes, etc.
The charity run has also received generous support and contributions from the state government, various partners and sponsors such as:

"Food wastage has a direct impact not only on people locally, but also globally where hundreds of millions of people had no food to eat every day. According to data by Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), it shows that 55 per cent of solid waste disposed at landfills comprise of food with an estimation of 24 per cent being edible food. We aim to bridge the gap between food wastage and hunger, and support the goal of Mutiara Food Bank: Zero Hunger by 2030", said Michael Smeeton, the General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

Registration opens from 02 to 28 February 2023 to the first 2023 runners. Runners may register through: https://howei.com/event_details/rocktorockrun2023. There are two categories available, Fun Run (3.8km) and Competitive Run (10.2km). Registration fee for each category is RM99 per person (not inclusive of tax). Runners will receive an exclusive RTRR 2023 jersey T-shirt, a finisher medal, an e-certificate and a chance to win a lucky draw on the day of the event.
Registered runners are required to collect their race pack on 16 - 17 June 2023, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm at Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s car park.
