Penang is set to host the world's first Capybara Pimoo-themed fun walk on 24 May 2026, turning the globally beloved character brand into a full-blown tourism experience right in the heart of George Town. The non-competitive 5km walk kicks off from 1st Avenue and loops through George Town's UNESCO World Heritage Site, passing through Magazine Road, Light Street, King Street, Chulia Street, Beach Street, Penang Road, Farquhar Street, and Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah before returning to the starting point.
Basically, you get to stroll through some of the most iconic streets in Penang, with a capybara theme. It doesn't get more Penang than that. More Than Just a Walk This isn't your typical fun walk. Organiser Komik Sdn Bhd describes it as a full immersive IP experience, throughout May, 1st Avenue will be transformed with Capybara Pimoo-themed decorations, and after the walk, there'll be a Capybara Pimoo pop-up store at the mall, making it the world's first full IP experience event of its kind. Penang tourism committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said the event reflects the state's push to lead in creative tourism during Visit Malaysia 2026, taking a global cultural trend and turning it into something uniquely Penang.
