2 weeks agoMy mom and I are flying to Tenerife and have decided to stay at an airport hotel the night before our flight, so that we won't have to get up at 4:00 a.m. and drive across the city. I started looking and narrowed it down to two options: the Sheraton and the Meliá. Both are marketed as airport hotels, but I don’t know if there are any fundamental differences besides the price. Can anyone with experience suggest which is better and what factors into the decision?

2 weeks agoI understand; when I flew for the first time, I didn’t know where to stay either. I’ve been taking my parents on trips through Madrid for several years, so I know both hotels well. One secret many people don't know is that your choice between the Sheraton and the Meliá depends on your departure terminal. You can find more details about the terminals on the Madrid International Airport (MAD) website, but I’ll give you a quick overview based on my experience. The Sheraton is directly connected to Terminal 1 via a covered walkway. In other words, you step out of the hotel, and you're practically in the terminal. The Meliá is located near Terminal 4 and is connected by a pedestrian walkway to Terminal 4. So, just check which terminal your flight is departing from. Tenerife is a wonderful choice, by the way. Have you been there before, or is this your first time flying there?
