15 hours agoHas anyone managed a migration where the email data comes from several different sources? I’m dealing with a situation where some users have Outlook data files, while others are connected through IMAP or cloud-based Microsoft accounts. Creating a separate workflow for every source seems like it could quickly become difficult to track.
One thing I would want to settle before starting is the amount of data each user actually needs. Some mailboxes may require their complete folder structure and attachments, while others only need selected dates or specific message types. Duplicate removal would also be useful when older data has already been copied somewhere else.
While researching this setup, I found the SysInfo Email Migration Tool. The supported sources include PST/OST, IMAP/POP3, Microsoft 365, GoDaddy, and Hotmail/Outlook. Depending on the requirement, data can also be exported to formats such as PST, PDF, EML, MSG, MBOX, JSON, CSV, DOC, and DOCX or moved to supported cloud destinations.
Another part I’m considering is batch processing. If dozens of IMAP or POP3 accounts are involved, entering every mailbox manually would take considerable time. The CSV import option could make account setup more manageable, especially when source and destination details need to be mapped consistently.
I’m also comparing Email migration services because I want to understand how much control administrators normally get over filters and authentication. For Microsoft accounts, different authentication options may be available, while IMAP and POP3 accounts require their respective server credentials and settings.
The final question is which email migrator makes sense for a mixed environment. Would it be better to migrate each source type separately and verify the results, or use one workflow for all compatible accounts? I’d be interested in hearing how other IT teams organize this kind of migration.
