Diabetes Day 2023 by AMSA UPM and The Baba Events

Diabetes Charity Run

This year, the Diabetes Charity Run will be held physically where participants will have the opportunity to participate in this event alongside their friends and family on the 3rd of June 2023. There are a total of 2 categories to choose from: Diabetes Charity Run All Gender 5km and Diabetes Charity Run All Gender 7 km. All participants are entitled to race kits upon registration of this event. Participants of this activity are also eligible to participate in our lucky draw.  

Health Screening

Health Screening booths will set up on the day of event. The aim of this screening is to identify diseases or pre-clinical conditions in individuals who believe they are healthy but who may in fact be at risk of a specific health impairment, and who could benefit from early treatment (or other intervention).

This year, AMSA UPM aims to screen as well as provide consultation services for the following diseases:

• Diabetes
• Glaucoma
• Scoliosis
• Atherosclerosis
• Hearing Loss

Health Exhibition 

A health exhibition will be held on the day of the event.  This health exhibition will include informative booths and games.  As the activity’s aim is to raise awareness on general health, wellness and  health issues, health organisations will be invited to create short videos or presentations to share tips on taking care of our health and ways to tackle the health issues.  The participants will be actively involved in the learning process as it is a physical health exhibition. 

Informative Infographics Competition

A small informative infographics competition will be held at our event. The topic of infographics will be on ways to manage diabetes. Participants will be given one week to complete the infographics. Their work will be collected via google forms. 

Awareness Talk on Diabetes Mellitus

We are honored to be able to collaborate with Dr. Ng Ooi Chuan, the Head of Endocrinology, University Putra Malaysia to organise an awareness talk on diabetes mellitus. The main purpose for this session is to educate the public to increase their knowledge regarding diabetes and then use that knowledge to help the community in the future.

In addition, we're pleased to announce that a portion of our earnings will be donated to National Kidney Foundation Malaysia (NKF) ! We hope to aid NKF, who strives to raise the standards of care provided to patients with kidney failure and those who are suffering from various kidney-related diseases.
