On 14 November 2026 (Saturday), the Penang Forest Run 2026; Powered by Decathlon, inviting runners to experience the raw beauty and rugged adventure of the Bukit Mertajam, Penang jungle.
This is more than just a trail run. It is an opportunity to run deeper into nature, conquer challenging trails, cross rivers, climb through demanding terrain and discover the untamed side of Bukit Mertajam — all while surrounded by the breathtaking landscape of the Pearl of The Orient, Penang.

Mandatory Item (for 15KM and 10KM Only)
- Hydration bag/handheld bottle (min capacity of 1L)
- Whistle x 1 pc
- Emergency Blanket x 2 pcs
- Headlamp x 1 unit and extra batteries x 3 units / power bank 1 unit
- Hand phone (for emergency).
- Food/Energy Bar/Gel
- Collapsible Cup AND Bowl
*You're required to present the mandatory items:
- DURING THE RACE, random checks by officials at any point during the race.
- AFTER THE RACE, for result verification.
Failure to comply with the mandatory items will result in:
- Disqualification from the race (for more than 2 missing items)
- Penalty of 30 minutes for each missing item (max 2 items; if more than 2 items then the organizer will implement No. 3 as stated above)
Mandatory Item (for 5KM)
- Hydration bag/handheld bottle (min capacity of 250ml)
Water stations
5KM: 1 water station.
10KM: 2 water stations.
15KM: 3 water stations.
Toilets are available at the starting point only.
*The water station count is an estimation only. It can change on the actual day.
*We will implement the bring your own bottle/cup concept (BYOB/BYOC) for this race. So please bring your own portable cup or bottle. We will not provide any disposable cups at the starting/finishing line and at all water stations.
Extra Notes:
Bib transfer, cancellation, and category change
- No refund of the entry fee once you’ve registered for the race, regardless of any category, in any circumstances.
- Changes to the Bib name are allowed during race pack collection only with a fee of RM65. New runners will remain in the previous runners’ category and tee size.
- All participants are strongly advised not to proceed with the race without the updated runner information on the Race Bib for their insurance coverage and safety reasons.
Eligibility
- This race is open to all Malaysian/Permanent Resident and overseas runners aged 18 years and above only. For under age participants, parental/guardian consent is required (Please DM us for information and the guardians’ waiver form).
- Participants must complete the race on foot under their own strength.
- Participants are required to be semi-self-sufficient. You must always have your mandatory equipment with you during the race.
- The organizer reserves the right to deny entry to any participants.
Pacer / External support
- Pacers and support crews are strictly prohibited.
- No external support from friends or family is allowed beyond the limits of the official checkpoints.
Medical
- There will be medical personnel on standby at the race site.
- Ambulance service is on standby as well for emergency cases.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring they are fit and healthy before starting the race. Please consult your doctor if there is any doubt.
Insurance
- Participants are to accept the risks associated with the event as per the indemnity clause in the registration form.
- The organizer will not be responsible for any claims resulting from this event.
- It is recommended that you have personal accident insurance or health insurance.
Event Cancellation
The organizers reserve the right to cancel or cut short the event for the following reasons (but not limited to)
- Adverse weather conditions (haze, thunderstorms, etc.)
- Dangerous trail conditions (landslides, floods, trees fallen/fires blocking the course, etc.)
- Riot, endemic, government policy changes, etc.
*In such an event, there is NO REFUND on the registration fee. By registering at this event, you have agreed to the said terms.
Safety
- Race bibs must always be worn & visible (on the front) throughout the event.
- Participants must always stay on the marked course. Short cuts/running off the trails are strictly prohibited.
- Participants must always carry all the mandatory items during the event.
- If you notice marshal vehicles (motorbike / jeep) approaching during the race, please slow down and give way.
- Please be cautious, as some parts of the trail route might be muddy and slippery.
- There will be a few river crossings, so it is advised to always stay alert to the official race markers.
- Ensure your own safety and that of others. Be considerate of other trails and road users always. - Take great care when crossing or running on roads. If another runner is injured or in distress, please assist.
Dropping Out From The Race
If you decide to withdraw from the event, you must inform the event officials immediately and remove your race bib. Once you have dropped out of the race, you are not allowed to restart.
- Dropping Out at check point
- Tell the checkpoint marshals that you've decided to drop out of the race.
- The checkpoint marshals will be able to further guide you on returning to the finishing point or with the race shuttle.
- Do note that not all checkpoints are accessible with the race shuttle and even so with a limited time frame.
- Dropping Out Along the racecourse
- Please proceed to your nearest checkpoint and inform the marshals that you've decided to drop out of the race. The checkpoint marshals will be able to further guide you on returning to the finishing point or with the race shuttle.
- Do note that not all checkpoints are accessible with the race shuttle and even so with a limited time frame.
- If you're severely unable to move yourself to the nearest checkpoint, please contact the event emergency number.
Result
The overall results for all participants will be out within 5 working days after the race.
For any complaints, please email us with:
- Filled complaint form and send it to the secretariat counter.
- Full details of the complaint. Attached all necessary proof and supporting document(s).
- Pay RM300 complaint fee.
Investigation will be done in 10 working days, and all results after that will be final.

Fee excludes forest permits (RM5.00) and 8% data administration fee. Organizer of the Penang Forest Run 2026 Powered by Decathlon; reserves the right to deny entry to any participants. All entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
