USM LESTARI FUN RUN 2025

About

The School of Chemical Engineering is proud to host the USM LESTARI FUN RUN 2025 for the very first time, with the aim of contributing to the sustainability agenda at USM and within the wider community. The USM LESTARI FUN RUN 2025 also celebrates USM’s remarkable achievement of ranking first in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, as well as being placed among the top three universities in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024. These rankings recognise the social and economic impact of universities worldwide, measured against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.

This programme also serves as a platform for the School of Chemical Engineering, USM to lead efforts in promoting environmental sustainability amidst the nation’s rapid development. The event will be highlighted by the colour green, a symbol of environmental sustainability, under the theme “Sustainability for a Greener Future.” This theme was chosen to raise awareness among participants about the importance of development planning that prioritises sustainability and ecological balance, driven particularly by knowledge and innovations in chemical engineering.

The USM LESTARI FUN RUN 2025 is also aligned with the USMFIT policy, which promotes a healthy lifestyle and continuous fitness practices.

The USM LESTARI FUN RUN 2025 is envisioned as an annual run at the Engineering Campus, targeting 500 to 1,000 participants from the USM community as well as the general public from Penang and the neighbouring states of Perak and Kedah.

The event also provides an excellent platform for corporate sponsors to champion both environmental sustainability and healthy living. Beyond promoting products and brands, it serves as an opportunity to implement meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the community. The partnerships built through this programme are expected to be the beginning of stronger collaborations in the future.
