Diabetes Day Charity Run 2019 was inspired by the World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day is an international awareness campaign held on November 14 each year. The campaign was introduced by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness among the public about diabetes.

Diabetes Day Charity Run is an annual event of Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), which in this year will be held on 15th December 2019, Sunday at Dewan Besar Pusat Kebudayaan & Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PKKSSAAS) UPM. This event is organized by the Medical and Health Sciences Students’ Association (MEHSSA) in collaboration with Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) in association with Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar UPM. Diabetes Day Charity Run 2019 aims to create awareness among all sections of the community about diabetes and equipping students with skills in organizing, interacting with civil society, as well as the skills to run a health screening. Moreover, this event targets to establish partnerships with private sector companies and non-governmental bodies and, is one way for us, UPM, to spread knowledge and awareness as an institution of higher learning.

Furthermore, this year’s event aims to establish the ability of Universiti Putra Malaysia to organize a program on health issues which reflects our concerns about the current issues and the public apart from providing moral support to patients with diabetes. With the aim of achieving a target of 1000 participants from the public, secondary school students, and undergraduates of UPM as well as from other higher education institutions, Diabetes Day Charity Run 2019 is organized to create a positive impact among students, public and the nation. With the main three categories (7km Men’s Open, 7km Women’s Open, and 5km Fun Run)

Format: Road Run in Conjunction to Health Awareness
