Run For Hope 2022

About Run For Hope 2022
A charitable running event that aims to encourage the public to practice a healthy lifestyle and care for the vulnerable groups and the environment. Run for Hope was first organized in the year 2018 by a group of passionate undergraduate students under the club named ‘Japanese Culture Club’ UTMKL. Since then, we have managed to collaborate with various non-governmental organizations and have donated all of our profits.
Despite the difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic, JCC UTMKL collaborated with Japanese Club UTMJB to organize Run For Hope 2021 as a virtual charity run. Run For Hope 2021 partnered up with the MOVE ON running platform to raise funds for Save Environment Save Ourselves (SESO). SESO’s main goal is to fight against food waste and food poverty. While spreading awareness and spearheading projects to tackle food waste and food poverty is an important part of what they do, they also help to build communities, in particular amongst people who are suffering from social isolation. Run For Hope 2021 managed to raise and donate RM1000 to SESO.
This time, Run For Hope 2022, a virtual running event, focusses highly on sustainable energy and the importance of saving the environment before it is too late. We are collaborating with Free Tree Society Kuala Lumpur to incorporate and achieve the seventeen sustainable goals established by the United Nations. Free Tree Society Kuala Lumpur is an environmental organisation that spreads the environmental stewardship message through giving away trees for free to green our Earth. Since 2013, they have given away over 42,277 plants to homeowners, schools, marginalized groups, community gardens and wildlife habitats to proliferate planting, to encourage biodiversity and to promote a love of nature. Via this event, we are encouraging our community to contribute what they can to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all beings enjoy peace and prosperity.
