Plogging For Charity 2022

Plogging For Charity 2022 banner

Protecting the places that you move while giving hope to cancer patients.

This year, we are hoping to double the social impact of what we do by incorporating the concept of ‘Plogging’ into our signature charity run event. Not only do we raise funds for cancer patients, we also hope that we could encourage the society to be more eco-conscious while doing so.

What is Plogging?

Plogging is a simple concept that involves jogging while picking up litter. The primary objective of plogging is to keep one’s community clean by removing litter along the walking or running route.

We hope this event can act as a catalyst to inspire communities to be more mindful of their surroundings and realize what we could do to make a difference. This could be a small part of a bigger solution to tackling the environmental crisis which is impacting our earth.

Ensuring cancer care accessible to everyone.

All donations received from this event will be donated to our Tabung Kebajikan Penyakit Kanser Mount Miriam to aid needy cancer patients in their treatment expenses.

It is our mission to provide the best available treatment to all cancer patients regardless of their financial status. Last year, 2021, we subsidized 439 needy patients in their treatment expenses amounting to RM1,503,958.00. On average, we have been disbursing up to RM 1.5million a year.

Fund raised from this event will help us to continue helping the needy patients.

There are no strict rules about exactly how to do it, which makes plogging a perfectly adaptable activity whether you do it alone or enjoy it as a group activity.

  • Virtual, Physical Event or Both.

You may participate virtually any time (In Mid-July, after receiving the Event T-Shirt) and anywhere. Or you may participate together as a group at Penang Youth Park on 6th August, or both.

  • Do it your way.

Whether you prefer to walk, jog, run or hike, everyone can participate at whatever pace they feel most comfortable. There is no minimum distance which you are required to cover.

  • By Yourself or with your Gang.

You may incorporate plogging into your own daily routine or regular outdoor activity. You can also participate with your friends, colleagues, or family.

  • Choose your own area or join us at Penang Youth Park.

You may do the plogging at the location of your choice. You are also encouraged to join us together on the 6th August, 8.00 morning at Penang Youth Park.

If you have identified an area which needs to be cleaned up but you need more manpower, do reach out to us. We might be able to gather more participants for that area. We are also looking to work with Penang Council to identify areas which requires plogging.

  • Run for the Awareness.

Participants can also choose to opt out plogging. All participants will receive an Event T-shirt to wear for this event. You are encouraged to wear it during your run as we hope to instill cancer awareness among the community.
